Lights, Canberra, Action 2025
Evening everyone!
This week, the filmmakers of Canberra are working hard on their Lights, Canberra, Action films.
Lights, Canberra, Action is an annual film festival where filmmakers have 10 days to film a short film, featuring 10 items from around Canberra. This year’s theme? Looking back, looking forward.
I don’t normally take part because my filmmaking partner in crime Luke, is one of the judges. Well, this year I decided to throw my hat in the ring without my boy, Luke.
I reached out the most talented cinematographers I know Lil Kicha (who shot the four films Luke and I made over the few years), pitched an idea, shot her a script, and the rest (as they say) is history.
After work hours this week, we’ve been going out to the locations that must be in the film, and with amazing support from the Canberra Cosplayer and Drag communities, we’ve had a GREAT few days of shooting..
If you’re a long-time reader, you’ll know I juggle my creative side with depression and all that nasty stuff. And this is what our film is about.
Lil appeared on my radar when I saw a documentary she shot a few years ago, and I knew I wanted THAT ETE to shoot films with.
I’ll be honest, I feel like this project is a but self-indulgent, as I talk about my mental health and creative process, but I’m hoping Lil can transform it into something special.
Time will tell, and I’ll keep you posted.
In the meantime, it’s just been a really fun distraction from life.
